Sundays Are Different #3: Death Cab For Cutie

August 7th, 2005

If you listened to the iTunes New Music Tuesday podcast this week, you’ll know that the music store has an exclusive Death Cab For Cutie download. It’s the single, Soul Meets Body (Radio Edit), from the upcoming album, “Plans,” which will be out August 30th.

Well, I hummed and hawed about whether to spend my hard earned $.99 on it, and finally decided to go for it last night. I’m glad I did. It’s probably the best 99 cents I’ve spent all year. I’m now even more excited about the upcoming album than I had been. If this one track is any indication, this will definitely be one of DCFC’s best albums ever.

So being in the mood for DCFC, I decided to put up every legal MP3 that I know about for today’s tracks. I was going to put up stuff for The Postal Service, Juno, Eureka Farm, All-Time Quarterback, and Martin Youth Auxilary as well, but with the exception of The Postal Service, I couldn’t find anything. You probably already have the three tracks available for them, anyway, but if you don’t, you can pick them up at Sub Pop. Oh… and did you know that The Postal Service Finally put up a website this month? Well, they did.

Also, I didn’t realize it, but the iTunes Music Store has an entire exclusive EP Called “Studio X Sessions.” It has studio session versions of The New Year, Blacking Out the Friction, Bend to Squares, and Army Corps of Architects.

Here’s the cool part… that means that iTMS has five exclusive tracks. Now, this wasn’t by design or anything, but that means that if you happen to be the big winner of our little contest, you could download all of them, and still have a nickel left over.

Anyway… here’s every legal Death Cab MP3 that I know of. If you know of any others, send ‘em my way:

Barsuk Records (the label for All-Time Quarterback) has several more DCFC mp3s. but they’re all low-quality. They actually sound okay, if you’re not a perfectionist, and they can be got here.

The Library

I've removed the little flash player that was here for now. It was causing some problems with the site in several browsers... okay... mostly it was IE6 because... well... I'm fairly sure that Microsoft hates me.

For now, you can view the Complete Library page, which is kind of a master list of every single track we've linked to.
