If you’re a new reader (we got a serious ton of hits today from the podcast), I posted up a little contest a few days ago where I asked people to try to guess what all of the bands of that day’s Daily Tracks had in common. As it turns out, all of the bands at one time were signed with Dischord Records.
I actually owe the inspiration for the contest to JMH at The Last Hideout. Several days ago, he posted a great piece talking about his early musical influences, and mentioned Dischord. His little trip down memory lane definitely struck a chord with me.
Dischord has put out some of the best independent music for over 20 years now, and have constantly been a source of lessons on “how to do it right,” for newer labels. They’re also responsible for giving Fugazi to the world, and that my friends, is a damn good thing :)
Speaking of labels, I got some more email back today from people I’ve been asking permission from to play their music on the podcast. Next week’s show is gonna be hot :) And a certain someone from the UK will be very happy.
