Sundays Are Different #8: The Roots of Orchis
September 11th, 2005
If you absolutely had to pin a genre on The Roots of Orchis, it would probably be trip-hop. You’d be doing them a huge disservice to do so, though. All the hallmarks of quality trip-hop are there: deep grooves, minimal samples, the occasional intelligent rap and soulful crooning; but their sound goes so much further, incorporating anything they feel will truly add to the piece.
This is far more than simple mood music sprinkled with clever hooks and catchy samples. Each track is like an individual piece of art. Their work is intelligent, deep, and moving. Most of their tracks are instrumental, and without ever uttering a word, they transmit a message that is delivered to both mind and soul. This is music that you feel as much as you hear.
But I’ve already said way too much and have ruined it by pinning it down in my own way. Take a listen… but be warned… this very possibly could blow your mind.

I’m sick of working so I thought I’d take a break and let you know that I got that mystery shopping order cancelled in time, so you don’t need to worry about me :-) I still wouldn’t do that one if I had it to do over again though, because at the time I didn’t realize that I wouldn’t get credit for the order right away. So now I’ll have to do another one…..I think I might try the eFax. We shall see.
