Odeo Player Widget Released
September 20th, 2005
To be honest, I don’t really care much for Odeo’s Syncr program. I think it’s better than iPodder and a couple other podcatchers I’ve tried, but since iTunes has started supporting podcasts, I just don’t see any benefit to using a third party app for my subscriptions.
What I do like about Odeo, though, is their site. Aside from being just oh-so-impressive with it’s slick and strikingly beautiful Ajax interface, it has one of the best and most useful podcast directories available. The main thing I love is browsing the different shows, and actually being able to play them right there in the browser. As far as that goes, they’ve blown iTunes away.
Now they’ve released a really nifty Widget for OS X that focuses completely on that ability. The neat thing is, you don’t even have to have an account with them to browse, listen, and subscribe. You can enter a custom feed, and let the widget do the magic. If you’re on Tiger, you should definitely check it out.
